Amastia

Amastia is a rare congenital malformation in which the mammary gland and nipple are completely absent on one or both sides. The cause is usually a developmental disorder during the embryonic phase. Amastia frequently occurs in the context of genetic syndromes or together with further malformations. Surgical reconstruction is possible using autologous tissue, tissue expanders, or implants.
