Lip augmentation with autologous fat was hyped in the media for a time as an alternative to hyaluronic acid. With this method, the patient's own fat (from the abdomen or thigh) is harvested, processed and then injected into the lips. The intention was for the effect to be more lasting, as some of the fat cells would integrate permanently. In practice, however, the fat cells break down quickly in many patients, and the risk of asymmetries is significantly greater than with hyaluronic acid lip augmentation. Treatment with autologous fat almost always needs to be repeated two or three times. At artethic®, we advise against this treatment, as the results frequently lead to dissatisfaction.

Most treatments are very comfortable. We offer a numbing cream or local anaesthesia on request. The session rarely lasts longer than 30 minutes.

Mild swelling, minor bruising or a sensation of tightness after treatment are possible, but usually subside within a few days. Serious side effects are very rare when the treatment is carried out correctly. We will brief you thoroughly beforehand. A tip from our practice: take Arnica D6 (globules) or bromelain (pineapple enzymes) for a few days to support the healing process.

Yes – as a rule. After hyaluronic acid or Botox treatment, you will be presentable again depending on the extent of any swelling. We recommend gently cooling the lips immediately after the injection.

Absolutely. Male patients are increasingly requesting clearly defined lip contours or subtle volume corrections – without a feminising effect. We provide individual, type-appropriate advice.
