Fat cells serve the human body as an energy store and for thermal insulation. However, an excess of fat cells is bothersome for many people. The fat-dissolving injection offers a clinical alternative to liposuction. Localised stubborn fat deposits that refuse to budge despite exercise and a healthy diet can be effectively dissolved with the fat-dissolving injection. The fat-dissolving injection works via an enzymatic process. A solution is injected into the problem areas – for example the abdomen, male breast, or double chin – where it specifically breaks down the fat cells. This enzymatic fat breakdown is also referred to as lipolysis. The "dissolved" fat cells are eliminated naturally and permanently removed. The liquefied fat is absorbed by carrier cells and transported via blood vessels, the liver, and bile into the intestine, where it is excreted from the body. The volume and circumference of the treated area are reduced significantly and measurably.

The costs for liposuction, a HIFU treatment, or a fat-dissolving injection are highly individual. Prior to treatment, a detailed consultation takes place to determine which treatment or procedure is appropriate and effective for your individual fat reduction needs.

If liposuction is an option for you, we will clarify exactly which areas are to be treated and whether any additional procedures (tightening surgery) are required. The cost of liposuction is then based on the number of body areas treated and any accompanying procedures. We create an individual treatment plan tailored to each patient's needs and wishes. Unfortunately, health insurance rarely covers the cost of liposuction.

It is important to note that liposuction is not intended as a weight-loss treatment, but rather to eliminate stubborn localised fat pockets that persist despite strict dieting and exercise.

Liposuction – The technique

Liposuction, also known as liposuction, is a procedure that should only be performed by experienced plastic surgeons. Refined surgical technique now makes it possible to reduce fatty deposits at many areas of the body in almost any patient. Over the course of recent years, the technique of liposuction has changed considerably. We practise the currently lowest-risk and most efficient method, known as liposuction under tumescent local anaesthesia (suction method). With the tumescent technique, several litres of physiological saline solution, enriched with a vasoconstrictive agent, bicarbonate, and a local anaesthetic, are injected. The problem areas are marked on the patient whilst standing before the procedure. During the infiltration period, the tumescent fluid loosens the fat cells from the surrounding tissue, which are then aspirated through fine cannulae. In this way, almost all regions of the body can be contoured. Sometimes, following liposuction, tightening of the treated body areas may still be necessary. In cases of very lax skin, additional procedures may be required, such as a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) or a thigh lift.
