Aspiration Lipectomy
Aspiration lipectomy, also known as liposuction, is a surgical procedure for the removal of adipose tissue. Fat is suctioned out through fine cannulae, often following prior loosening or liquefaction — for example, by means of tumescent solution or radiofrequency. Aspiration lipectomy is not a method of weight reduction. It serves to improve body contour or to treat pathological fat distribution disorders such as lipoedema. Commonly treated areas include the abdomen, hips, thighs, knees, and chin.
