BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acids)

BHA acids such as salicylic acid are lipid-soluble and can penetrate deep into the skin. There, they counteract sebum accumulation and help prevent inflammation in the area of the sebaceous glands. They are frequently used as an adjunctive treatment for acne, adult-onset acne, blackheads, or skin prone to inflammation. Depending on the concentration, contact time, and product, BHA acids are well tolerated, including by sensitive skin. We use BHA acids, for example, as part of our ImageSkincare treatments.
