Chemical Peel

In a chemical peel, agents such as fruit acids, trichloroacetic acid, vitamin A, or phenols are used. The outermost layer of skin is carefully exfoliated in a controlled manner, stimulating skin regeneration. Chemical peels are indicated for uneven skin texture, pronounced hyperkeratosis, blemishes and acne, or certain pigmentation disorders. Medical-grade peels differ significantly from cosmetic exfoliation treatments. Depending on the condition of the skin, superficial, medium-depth, or deep peels may be employed. A qualified application and thorough skin analysis are essential. Mild to moderate skin irritation following a medical peel is normal and typically subsides within a few days. In almost all cases, a course of several treatments is required.
