Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis is the term used to describe excessive sweat production that goes beyond the normal range of thermoregulation. The areas most commonly affected are the axillae, though the palms of the hands and soles of the feet may also be involved. The cause is an increased activity of the sweat glands, independent of temperature or stress. Therapeutic approaches range from medicated antiperspirants and botulinum toxin injections through to surgical removal of the sweat glands. Treatment is always guided by the severity of the condition and the individual quality of life of those affected.
