Scar Correction
Scars occur following injuries, inflammation, or deliberately performed procedures (minor or major operations). The tissue is replaced by fibre-rich connective tissue. How visible a scar is depends on various factors: skin type, location, suturing technique, and individual wound healing. Under unfavourable conditions or due to genetic predisposition, conspicuous scars (such as keloids) can develop. In plastic and aesthetic surgery, scar placement is a central component of daily practice. With modern techniques, it is possible to make scars as inconspicuous as possible — almost invisible. These scars are placed along natural skin lines and folds — for example, at the hairline, in front of the ear, or directly within the lower eyelid fold.
