Acne

Acne is an inflammatory condition of the sebaceous glands and hair follicles. It occurs predominantly during puberty, but may also affect adults (late-onset acne, acne tarda). Typical skin changes include blackheads, pustules, and papules, and in severe cases nodules or scarring. Hormonal influences, genetic factors, and in some cases lifestyle factors all play a role in its development. Treatment is guided by severity and type: ranging from topical preparations and pharmacological therapy to procedures such as peels, laser, medical microneedling, or appropriate active-ingredient combinations.
