Chin Correction

As part of a chin correction, we can alter the shape, projection and position of the chin subtly or more markedly. The chin line significantly influences the facial profile. A receding or overly prominent chin can, for example, disrupt the proportions of the lower third of the face. The chin is in direct relationship to the nose, lips and jawline. Even minor adjustments or tightening procedures can visibly improve facial harmony and lend contours a more defined appearance. A variety of techniques are available for chin correction. In the surgical approach, the chin bone is repositioned (genioplasty) or an implant is inserted. Minimally invasive treatments in aesthetic medicine are based on specialist hyaluronic acid or autologous fat. Such fillers are particularly suitable for moderate corrections, rejuvenation and contouring. The choice of method is guided by bone structure, soft tissue and the desired change. Skin quality and texture also play a role. In addition to aesthetic considerations, functional factors may be relevant. For example, a markedly receding chin is in some cases associated with compromised airway patency or an altered bite. Prior to any treatment, a precise analysis of facial proportions should be carried out. Photographic documentation or three-dimensional imaging is frequently employed to plan changes realistically and present the potential outcome in a comprehensible manner.
