Anaesthesia
Anaesthesia describes the controlled suppression of the sensation of pain, consciousness, or both: a "numbing" that enables medical procedures. In plastic surgery, various techniques are employed depending on the procedure and the patient's condition, ranging from local anaesthesia and twilight sedation (analgosedation) through to general anaesthesia. The choice is guided by the extent and duration of the procedure as well as the patient's state of health.
