Lipoedema

Lipoedema is a chronic, predominantly genetic disorder of fat distribution that affects almost exclusively women. It is characterised by disproportionate fat accumulation in the legs, hips, or arms, often accompanied by pressure-induced pain and a tendency to bruise. Dieting typically has little to no effect. The mainstay of treatment is a combination of conservative lymphatic therapy and surgical liposuction. The aim is to reduce pain, swelling, and aesthetic burden.
