Augmentation
An augmentation is a surgical or minimally invasive enlargement of a body area. In plastic surgery, this most commonly concerns the breasts, the buttocks, or areas of the face such as the lips or the cheekbones. The treatment goals are, on the one hand, an increase in volume and, on the other, an improvement in shape and contour (defined rather than soft or ill-defined). Augmentation can be performed using implants, autologous fat, or fillers such as hyaluronic acid. Of paramount importance are the baseline conditions and a realistic planning of the procedure, guided by the individual anatomical circumstances. A further decisive consideration is the achievement of harmonious and, as far as possible, natural proportions.
