Mini Facelift: Information at a Glance
Auf dieser Seite
What is a Mini Facelift?
The Mini-
Facelift
, also known as a Soft Lift or Weekend Lift, is an abbreviated variant of the classic facelift.
Small incisions are used to tighten primarily the superficial layers of skin. The treatment usually takes less than two hours. Recovery times, and therefore downtime, are short.
Unlike more extensive lifting procedures, the deeper facial tissue structures (SMAS = Superficial Musculo-Aponeurotic System) are not tightened with this technique.
The Mini Facelift at a Glance
Duration: approx. one hour
Technique: tightening of the superficial skin layers, without involving the deeper tissue (SMAS)
Recovery time: a few days to 1 week
Longevity: generally limited, as no deeper structures are repositioned
Cost range: often under €3,000
Target group: individuals seeking a short-term tightening effect
When is a different treatment more appropriate?
Less suitable is the
Mid Facelift
for a youthful
contouring of the chin line
(
jawline
) as well as for
neck tightening
. With this method, we can therefore only intervene selectively. In cases of pronounced sagging and depending on skin condition, we recommend, for example, the
Full Facelift
, which addresses the entire face and neck. A thorough analysis, ideally with 3D simulation, provides the basis for choosing the best method.
Dr. Schuhmann
will be happy to advise you.
Important note: As a rule, longer-lasting lifting procedures such as the SMAS or
MACS Facelift
are considerably more effective. Please read our blog post on this topic.
Difference from the SMAS Facelift
The Mini
Facelift
focuses purely on tightening the skin. The
Facelift
using the SMAS technique, by contrast, also tightens and repositions the underlying muscle and connective tissue.
This means the
SMAS Facelift
lasts significantly longer. In addition, we are able to aesthetically contour the face, chin, and neck area (gentle reshaping).
One-Stitch and MACS Lift
Alongside the SMAS and the Mini
Facelift
, there are further lifting techniques such as the One-Stitch
Facelift
and the MACS (Minimal Access Cranial Suspension).
We offer both variants at artethic® in Düsseldorf and Berlin. The incisions here are likewise small and are usually placed in the area in front of the ear. The aim is a targeted tightening effect.
With the
MACS Facelift
, we additionally secure the tissue to higher-lying structures using specialised sutures. Both facelift techniques are more suited to younger patients in whom skin laxity is mild to moderate. The One-Stitch Lift is not suitable for the neck and chin area. The MACS is an option for jowls.
The advantages of both techniques: shorter operating times, faster recovery, smaller scars.
Alternatives to Surgical Lifting
A surgical
facelift
is not always necessary. Depending on the findings, radiofrequency therapy, injectable treatments, regenerative biostimulators, or combinations thereof may be the method of choice:
Radiofrequency therapy (
Morpheus8
,
Quantum RF
)
Minimally invasive treatments such as
Sculptra
,
lipolysis
, or injectable treatments
Combinations of biostimulators,
PRP
, or
hyaluronic acid
Which method is appropriate depends on skin quality, age, genetic factors, and your individual expectations of the result.
Most importantly: honest advice
Choosing the right method is complex — and highly individual. Only a specialist medical examination can determine whether a Mini
Facelift
, a
Facelift
with tightening of the deeper connective tissue, or non-surgical treatments offer the best results.
During the consultation, we also aim to assess and discuss the opportunities and risks in a realistic manner. Please feel free to book your appointment with artethic®

Frequently Asked Questions about Mini
Facelift
in Düsseldorf
From what age is a Mini
Facelift
possible?
A Mini Facelift is most commonly performed between the ages of 40 and 55 — typically when the first signs of skin laxity appear. In cases of more pronounced wrinkling and sagging skin, a more comprehensive
Facelift
— for example, a
Facelift
, for example an
SMAS Facelift
— is often more appropriate. This lasts longer and also addresses the deeper layers of tissue.
How does the Mini
Facelift
differ from the MACS Lift?
The MACS Lift also requires only small incisions. In addition, we place sutures in specific areas to lift the tissue in a more targeted manner. This produces a more noticeable lifting effect than the Mini
Facelift
, though the longevity is shorter than that of the
SMAS Lift
.
Are visible scars left after a Mini
Facelift
?
The incisions are smaller than those of a
Full Facelift
and are usually placed within the skin folds in front of the ear. Scars are nonetheless present; however, with good healing they generally remain inconspicuous.
How long is the recovery after a Mini
Facelift
?
Recovery time is generally shorter than after a classic
Facelift
. You should nonetheless plan for approximately one week to 14 days. How quickly the tissue settles depends — as with all treatments — on skin type, individual predisposition, lifestyle, and of course appropriate aftercare.
What are the risks of a Mini
Facelift
?
As with all surgical procedures, risks and side effects are possible. Typical but temporary accompanying effects include:
Swelling and bruising
A sensation of tightness in the skin
Rarely, infections or impaired wound healing
Since the deeper tissue is not affected, the overall risks are lower than with more extensive surgical procedures.
Can a Mini
Facelift
be repeated?
A repeat procedure is in principle possible. However, our patients frequently opt for a more comprehensive approach (SMAS technique), as the longevity of purely "skin lifting" is limited.
