- Device: HD ultrasound, wireless
- Treatment: Ultrasound-guided Hylase injection
- Repeat: possible after a few days if required
What is Hylase?
Hylase (hyaluronidase) is an enzyme that selectively breaks down injected
hyaluronic acid
. We use Hylase to remove unwanted
filler
– for example, in cases of overcorrection, asymmetry, or hardening. Hyaluronidase acts quickly: the
hyaluronic acid
is enzymatically dissolved and metabolised by the body. Combined with ultrasound guidance, we can trigger the effect precisely at the affected sites – without unnecessarily disturbing the surrounding tissue.
Why ultrasound-guided Hylase?
Hylase (hyaluronidase) has traditionally been administered "by feel" – yet not every
filler
behaves the same way. Some are stubborn, unevenly placed, or have migrated within the tissue, no longer sitting in their original position. Using the high-resolution sonography technology of our wireless ultrasound device, we can visualise the
filler
within the skin – and deliver the Hylase with pinpoint accuracy to exactly the right location.

The result:
Precise dissolution of unwanted
filler
Preservation of the surrounding tissue
Prevention of breakdown of the body's own
hyaluronic acid
When is a Hylase treatment indicated?
Ultrasound-guided filler dissolution is particularly indicated when:
filler
has been placed incorrectly or inappropriately
Different laser treatments with various preparations
the
filler
is particularly firm, deeply seated, or stubborn
the
filler
has migrated or distributed unevenly
the result appears overcorrected, unharmonious, or overly unnatural
asymmetries or an unintentionally masculine appearance have developed (e.g. at the chin,
jawline
, lips, or under the eyes)
the face feels swollen or "round" due to the
filler
(the so-called "football effect")
blurred contours, nodules, or areas of hardening have formed
a return to the natural baseline is desired
Your advantages
Maximum treatment safety through visualisation
Pinpoint, tissue-sparing correction
No more "blind injections"
Suitable for difficult cases and stubborn
filler
as well

How the treatment works – step by step
1. Consultation & analysis: We assess the baseline situation, ask about your previous filler treatments, and analyse the treatment area – both clinically and by sonography.
2. Visualisation of the filler: Using our high-resolution ultrasound device, we identify the filler structure within the tissue – including deeply situated or irregularly distributed deposits.
3. Precise injection of Hylase: This is followed by a targeted, pinpoint injection at the sites "marked" by ultrasound. This way, only the unwanted
filler
is dissolved, not the surrounding tissue.
4. Review & aftercare: Depending on the product and skin response, a follow-up treatment is sometimes advisable. The interval is generally at least 48 hours.
Frequently asked questions
What does the treatment cost?
The cost of the combined procedure is generally €550 (ultrasound costs + Hylase treatment), and without ultrasound (Hylase treatment only) approximately €350 – depending on the complexity and extent of the correction required. In more complex cases or where filler is more deeply situated, costs may vary on an individual basis.
How quickly does Hylase take effect?
In many cases, the breakdown of the hyaluronic acid is visible within just a few hours. The final effect typically becomes apparent within 24 to 72 hours.
How often can the treatment be repeated?
Depending on the depth and firmness of the filler, the hyaluronidase injection may be repeated after approximately 2 to 5 days. Overtreatment should be avoided.
Is a further filler treatment possible?
Yes, a hyaluronic acid injection is possible again after Hylase treatment – though not immediately. We recommend a minimum interval of 2 weeks to allow the tissue to settle.
Is the treatment painful?
No. We use very fine needles and additionally offer a pre-treatment with a topical anaesthetic cream – making the treatment very well tolerated. Many of our patients also report that homoeopathic preparations such as bromelain (applied after treatment) can help to reduce swelling and feelings of tension.
What makes the high-resolution ultrasound technology special?
At artethic® Dr. med. Karl Schuhmann & Colleagues, we work with a wireless high-frequency ultrasound device. The image resolution is impressive – displayable on a tablet and, at up to 20 MHz, ideal for visualising the finest structures in the face.
How does ultrasound-guided Hylase differ from the conventional treatment?
With the conventional Hylase treatment (hyaluronidase), the injection is usually administered "by feel" – without a precise view of the filler deposit. The ultrasound-guided method, by contrast, allows the filler to be localised to the millimetre and dissolved with targeted precision.
