Botulinum Toxin

Botulinum toxin (known brand name Botox®) relaxes facial muscles and smooths wrinkles. When properly applied by a specialist, facial features are not altered. The substance is used, for example, to treat forehead, eye, and frown lines. The effect lasts several months and is broken down by the body's metabolism. How quickly this process occurs varies individually. Botulinum is also used medically to treat hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), migraines, or excessive muscle tension.
