Malar Bags
Malar bags (also known as "malar mounds" or festoons) are swellings located beneath the eyes. Unlike tear troughs, malar bags sit on the cheekbone. They arise from causes such as fatty tissue and/or lymphatic congestion. Iatrogenic malar bags can develop as a result of suboptimal hyaluronic acid injections in this area. Treatment of malar bags is tailored to the individual presentation and tissue characteristics, ranging from lymphatic massage and radiofrequency skin tightening through to surgical procedures.
