The warmer season is fast approaching. With the innovative collagen booster Sculptra, you can refresh your face and body without surgery.
When the signs of ageing become noticeable on the face, not everyone wishes to undergo a surgical procedure. Aesthetic surgery offers a number of gentle non-invasive methods to reduce wrinkles and restore lost volume to the face, neck, or décolletage.
A variety of materials and treatments are used for this purpose. Classic wrinkle treatments involve synthetic materials such as hyaluronic acid or botulinum toxin. The patient's own material, such as autologous fat, has also been used for many years to smooth wrinkles and rejuvenate the appearance.
What makes Sculptra® special?
Biostimulator rather than filler
The mechanism of action of the innovative Sculptra® biostimulator differs from that of conventional fillers. Sculptra® is a biostimulator based on poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). A biostimulator has the ability to stimulate a specific effect within the tissue – in the case of Sculptra®, a tightening and smoothing of the skin through natural collagen synthesis.
Sculptra® works by stimulating fibroblasts (connective tissue cells), which then produce collagen type 1. The loss of collagen is a key factor in the ageing process, and collagen type 1 is one of the primary characteristics of young, elastic skin.
Collagen loss over the course of a lifetime
Every year
The skin loses approximately 1% of its collagen per year
From the mid-30s
Collagen loss of up to 15 per cent
From the mid-50s
Collagen loss of up to 35 per cent
Long-lasting rejuvenation effect
The liquid facelift is ideal for those who value a natural treatment with the longest possible lasting effect. Treatment with the biostimulator does not produce an immediate effect as a Botox® or hyaluronic acid wrinkle treatment would.

Important notes
During the treatment: The material is injected in liquid form in a fan-like pattern and massaged in thoroughly.
After the treatment: The patient should massage the treated areas 5 times a day for 1 minute over 5 days to ensure even distribution.
Combinations not always possible: Not all facial areas can be treated. Combined treatments are often beneficial, for example with radiofrequency therapy, shockwave treatment, or microneedling.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Sculptra and hyaluronic acid fillers?
While hyaluronic acid fillers deliver immediate results by adding volume, Sculptra is a biostimulator that stimulates the body's own collagen production. The results develop gradually over several months and last longer (up to 2 years). Sculptra improves skin quality from within, whereas fillers primarily add volume.
How quickly will I see results after Sculptra treatment?
Unlike fillers, there is no immediate effect. The results develop gently and gradually as collagen is built up naturally. First noticeable results are visible approximately 2 months after the second treatment. The optimal final result develops up to one year after the last treatment and continues to improve over time.
How many treatments do I need, and how long do the results last?
For an optimal result, 2–3 building treatments at intervals of 4–6 weeks are generally required. The results last up to 25 months. Thereafter, top-up treatments can be carried out approximately every 2 years to maintain the rejuvenating effect in the long term. The durability is considerably longer than with conventional fillers.
Is Sculptra treatment painful?
The treatment is generally well tolerated. Prior to injection, lidocaine can be added to the Sculptra to make the treatment more comfortable and pain-free. Most patients find the treatment pleasant. After the treatment, mild swelling or redness may occur, which subsides within a few days.
Can Sculptra really reduce cellulite?
Yes, Sculptra can significantly reduce cellulite. Anti-cellulite treatment with the biostimulator leads to a general improvement in skin appearance. The skin and connective tissue are tightened from within, making unsightly dimples less visible. For optimal results, a combination with other methods such as radiofrequency therapy, shockwave treatment, or microneedling is often recommended.
Why do I need to massage the treated areas after the treatment?
Massaging after the treatment is very important for an even result. You should massage the treated areas 5 times a day for 1 minute over 5 days. This ensures even distribution of the Sculptra solution within the tissue and prevents irregularities or nodule formation. Massage also supports the optimal stimulation of collagen production.
For whom is Sculptra not suitable?
Sculptra cannot be used in all facial areas. For smoothing forehead lines or crow's feet, for example, the biostimulator is not suitable – here, other treatments such as botulinum toxin are more appropriate. Pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and individuals with active skin infections or autoimmune conditions should avoid treatment. An individual consultation with a specialist is essential in order to identify the most suitable treatment approach.
