Treating under-eye circles in Düsseldorf

Treating under-eye circles in Düsseldorfin Düsseldorf

Tired eyes despite restful nights? Often it comes down to the skin structure rather than sleep. Dark shadows, fine lines and volume loss: the thin skin beneath the eye is complex and sensitive and reacts quickly with changes. At our practice we treat under-eye circles primarily with regenerative methods: polynucleotides, PRP and exosomes, depending on the cause, skin condition and treatment goal.

At a glance

  • Methods: PRP, polynucleotides, MCT exosomes
  • Effect: Cell regeneration, tissue rebuilding, calming of micro-inflammation
  • Suitable for: dark shadows, fine lines, skin thinning
  • Treatment duration: approx. 30 - 45 minutes, 2 - 3 sessions
  • Downtime: none to minimal

The methods

Polynucleotides for structure and skin density:

These biostimulators promote cell regeneration and bind moisture. They give substance back to thin, parchment-like skin under the eyes. The treatment does not plump up and is suitable for crêpey lines as well as decreasing skin density.

PRP – support from within:

Processed autologous plasma (platelet-rich plasma) works where microcirculation and cell activity decline – for better skin perfusion and as a collagen booster. Particularly suitable for dark shadows without volume loss.

MCT exosomes – when inflammation and stress age the skin:

MCT exosomes are the body's own signal carriers that reorganise cell communication. They have a cell-rejuvenating effect and mobilise collagen and elastin. For under-eye circles with a diffuse spectrum of causes, for premature skin ageing, and for prevention.

When injecting under-eye circles makes sense

  • for dark under-eye circles caused by a microcirculation disorder
  • for fine lines or skin thinning below the lower eyelid
  • with first losses of elasticity
  • for tired, stressed skin, e.g. after illness or heavy strain
  • for people who want a regenerative, gentle treatment with lasting effect

The treatment is less suitable for very pronounced under-eye circles or sunken skin areas. Here we advise individually on alternatives.

What sets us apart

  1. Differentiated indication based on medical experience with all three methods
  2. No one-size-fits-all solutions: every treatment is targeted, individually or in combination
  3. Consultation with skin analysis and medical assessment: a purely 'cosmetic selection on request' is not sensible.
  4. Modern and regenerative treatments that support the skin's appearance over the long term.

Treatment details

Injecting the under-eye circles takes about 30 to 45 minutes. The preparations used are introduced into the skin with fine needles or blunt microcannulas. This can be slightly uncomfortable but is usually not painful.

Depending on the method, mild redness or swelling may occur. In most cases no downtime is needed.

We recommend 2 - 3 sessions 3 - 4 weeks apart, with a subsequent top-up. The exact interval depends on the current state of your skin and the treatment method.

Note: Why hyaluronic acid is not always the method of choice for under-eye circles

Injections with hyaluronic acid in connection with under-eye circles are common, but not always sensible. Especially in patients with very thin skin and low tissue density, hyaluronic acid can emphasise so-called malar bags: these are swellings below the lower eyelid that intensify the tired expression rather than soften it.

Regenerative methods such as polynucleotides, PRP and exosomes are considerably more effective. They strengthen the tissue and the fine structure from within and act where skin rejuvenation actually happens. The skin gradually becomes firmer and more even.

Because the body's own processes are triggered, it takes some time: the full effect appears after a few weeks, but is lasting.

Frequently asked questions

Why should under-eye circles not be treated with hyaluronic acid?

The area around the eyes is a very demanding treatment zone. Hyaluronic acid, if used incorrectly, can lead to swelling. Regenerative methods work more subtly. The skin structure improves holistically and in a natural way.

What distinguishes exosomes from PRP?

PRP is based on the body's own growth factors, as are MCT exosomes. However, these go a step further: they control complex skin-rejuvenating cell processes and thus also work where PRP alone is not enough. We also offer treatment with the body's own exosomes as combination treatments with 3x PRP or 3x polynucleotides in alternation, depending on the findings.

Is the treatment painful?

As a rule, no. We work with the finest cannulas and, on request, with a local anaesthetic.

How long does the result last?

That depends on the chosen method, the skin type and lifestyle, as well as the individual current condition of each person. PRP effects develop and last over months, exosomes often work even longer. Regular top-ups are advisable.

Is hyaluronic acid under the eyes generally unsuitable?

Not in principle – it always depends on the individual case and the skin. However, the skin under the eyes is more prone to swelling than other regions. If malar bags are present, they can in the worst case be emphasised. Whether and when a filler treatment with hyaluronic acid is sensible should always be decided depending on tissue density, the course of the vessels and the individual skin condition. In addition, it matters which hyaluronic acid is injected, as not every filler is suitable for every area. Good information about which types of filler are suitable for the eyes is necessary here.

Why is a plastic-aesthetic assessment particularly important for under-eye circles?

Because the region is functionally, aesthetically and anatomically complex. Specialists in plastic and aesthetic surgery such as Dr. Karl Schuhmann and his medical colleagues bring years of clinical experience with minimally invasive methods and also understand the deeper anatomical structures that play a role in injection, from the tear duct to the lymphatic system.

How does skin analysis help with treatment planning?

Skin analysis with VISIA or Vectra shows not only the skin surface but also colour changes and tissue density. We can clearly identify whether dark under-eye circles are caused, for example, by pigment, blood vessels or volume loss, and adapt the treatment accordingly.

Can I combine different methods?

In many cases that is exactly what makes sense. For example, an initial treatment with exosomes or polynucleotides can improve the skin structure. Radiofrequency or focused ultrasound (HIFU) can enhance the effect.

How long does it take until I look fresher after 'injecting under-eye circles'?

With regenerative methods the effect does not begin immediately but develops slowly – yet naturally and sustainably. Most patients notice a first visible improvement after 2 - 3 weeks. Overall, skin renewal from within takes weeks to months, depending on the severity of the under-eye circles.
