Treating upper lip lines & lip lines (smoker's lines)

Upper lip lines, also referred to as lip lines or smoker's lines, are fine lines that run perpendicular to the lip contour. They develop through the natural ageing process, often accelerated by smoking, the breakdown of collagen and elastin, and repeated facial movements.

- Ageing processes: The loss of hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin leads to fine lines in the upper lip area. - Smoking: Damages the skin's structure and intensifies the formation of fine lines. - Facial expressions: Repeated facial movements can promote the development of dynamic lines. - Environmental factors: UV radiation and environmental influences also accelerate the ageing process.

As a natural appearance and harmonious lip shape are of great importance to us at artethic® Düsseldorf, we focus on three minimally invasive approaches: 1. Skinboosters with hyaluronic acid: Specifically formulated to hydrate the skin and gently smooth fine lines without adding volume. 2. Botox®: Reduces expression-related lines through controlled muscle relaxation. 3. Combination of Skinboosters and Botox®: Optimises both static and dynamic lines. The skin is intensively hydrated and subtly relaxed.

Your treatment begins with a thorough consultation in which we take your individual wishes and anatomy into account – and, where appropriate, a detailed skin analysis (we use facial scanning with Visia®). The injections with the selected products are then carried out. The treatment itself takes approximately 20–30 minutes. If you wish, we can apply a lidocaine-containing cream to numb your lips beforehand.

Yes, results are generally visible immediately. While the treatment primarily reduces fine lines, the final result becomes apparent after a few days, once any swelling has subsided.

Longevity varies from person to person. Factors such as individual metabolism, lifestyle and facial expressiveness all play a role. The choice of the ideal product is also a key consideration, as products behave differently in the tissue depending on the manufacturer and their composition. As a general guide: - Skinboosters: Approximately 6 to 12 months. - Botox®: Typically 3 to 6 months. - Combination treatments: Results may last between 6 and 12 months, depending on skin type and everyday influences.

Most patients report only minimal discomfort. Mild redness or swelling may occur, but these are generally short-lived. For faster recovery, the homoeopathic remedy Arnica D 12 as well as pineapple enzymes (bromelain) may help. Please take these after your treatment as advised.
