Why the temples are important for overall appearance
The temples connect the forehead, eyebrow, and cheek. When volume is lost in this area, a shadow forms that makes the face look more angular and older. The causes include natural ageing processes, weight loss, or a reduction in facial musculature.
Using fillers or biostimulators, we can gently reshape the upper half of the face. Irregularities are smoothed out, and the temple appears rounder and therefore softer. In many cases, the lateral support of the eyebrow also improves – the eyes look more open and refreshed.
What happens during treatment
Temple filler is a skin-compatible gel (usually hyaluronic acid or a biostimulator) that we introduce into the area above the temporal bone. Only small quantities are required. You will see the effects immediately after the injection. The skin surface remains largely intact, as we use very fine needles. In many cases, the skin texture improves in the weeks following treatment. With Sculptra (a biostimulator), we achieve a beautiful result in the temple area along with a subtle lifting effect.

Temple filler is a volume treatment specifically for the temple region. A filler (usually hyaluronic acid or a collagen stimulator) is introduced into the deeper layers of tissue. The facial shape appears softer, more youthful, and more harmonious immediately after treatment.

How does the temple filler treatment work?
At artethic® Dr. Karl Schuhmann & Kolleg:innen, we analyse your skin structure before using fine cannulas to introduce the filler material (hyaluronic acids of varying degrees of cross-linking) into the temple region. The treatment, including a preliminary consultation and local anaesthesia if required, takes little more than 20 minutes. The result is visible immediately.
How does the area feel after treatment?
After temple filler treatment, a mild sensation of pressure or tightness may occur during the first few days – particularly when chewing or when the facial muscles are under strain. These reactions are normal and typically subside within a few hours or days.
Is temple filler painful?
Treatment is generally very well tolerated. To ensure you feel as little as possible from the slight injection, we apply a numbing cream beforehand, or a local anaesthetic on request. You may notice a mild sensation of pressure or a slight burning feeling, though this is usually very mild.
Can I combine temple filler with treatment of other areas?
If desired, the volume treatment can be extended to the cheeks, the zygomatic arch, or the eye area. The individual selection of the appropriate filler is important in this context. Where possible, this can be carried out within a single appointment.
When is temple filler not suitable?
We advise against treatment in the following cases: acute inflammation or skin infections; pregnancy or breastfeeding; very thin or irritated skin in the temple area; clotting disorders or blood-thinning medication (medical consultation required).
