Doctors help burns victims – Dr. Karl Schuhmann once again travelling with Interplast to India this year.
Dr. Karl Schuhmann, Chief of the Department of Plastic/Aesthetic Surgery & Hand Surgery at the Evangelisches Krankenhaus Hattingen and owner of a private practice in Düsseldorf, operated again for two weeks in February 2020 with the Interplast Stuttgart/Münster section at the Vagus Hospital in Bangalore, India.
The 26th Free Plastic Surgery Camp
By invitation and in collaboration with the "Friends Welfare Organisation (FWO)", the "26th Free Plastic Surgery Camp" was carried out together with Interplast Germany. The team comprised two plastic surgeons, one maxillofacial surgeon, two anaesthetists, one general practitioner, one junior doctor, as well as an anaesthetic nurse and a scrub nurse. All medical professionals used their annual leave for this humanitarian mission.

"Through our hand surgery, we are able to give some people the ability to use their hands again," says Dr. Schuhmann. These humanitarian missions are a matter close to his heart, for which he dedicates his time and annual leave every year.
