Gummy Smile

A smile showing excessive gum is called a gummy smile. The cause is usually overactivity of the muscles responsible for lifting the upper lip. A minimally invasive treatment with botulinum toxin can reduce this muscle activity. The lip lifts slightly less, while natural facial expression (mimicry) is preserved. The treatment must be repeated after several months.
