NEW: Hylase with Ultrasound: Precise Filler Correction at Dr. Karl Schuhmann & Colleagues

Düsseldorf, April 2025 – The practice of Dr. Schuhmann & Colleagues is expanding its medical-aesthetic range of services: ultrasound-guided Hylase treatment enables pinpoint-accurate and tissue-sparing correction of over-corrected or misplaced filler treatments.

Safer, more precise, gentler

Filler corrections are among the most demanding tasks in aesthetic medicine. Whether following unsatisfactory results, overcorrection, or simply the desire to return to a more natural look – ultrasound-guided Hylase treatment offers a solution at the highest medical standard.

This method allows us to identify even stubborn or deep-seated fillers with pinpoint accuracy. In contrast to the conventional "blind injection", we can see in real time where the hyaluronic acid is located and place the Hylase to millimetre precision.

🎯

Precise Visualisation

Ultrasound shows exactly where fillers are located – including in deeper tissue layers that are not visible from the outside.

🔬

Tissue-sparing

Thanks to precise placement, only as much Hylase as necessary is used – this minimises swelling and protects the surrounding tissue.

Immediate Effect

Hylase begins breaking down the hyaluronic acid immediately after injection. Initial results are often visible within a few hours.

🛡️

Safety through Visual Control

Vascular structures are visualised on ultrasound – allowing us to avoid complications such as vascular occlusions.

Modern Technology for Optimal Results

The wireless high-frequency ultrasound device delivers images with up to 20 MHz resolution for optimal visualisation of even the smallest filler remnants in sensitive facial areas. This high-resolution imaging is crucial for detecting even the finest structures and minimal filler deposits.

Indications for Hylase Treatment

Overcorrection: Too much filler in the face (e.g. overfilled lips, puffy cheeks)
Misplacement: Filler in an undesired location or uneven distribution
Nodule formation: Visible or palpable irregularities
Tyndall effect: Bluish discolouration caused by superficially placed hyaluronic acid
Vascular complications: Vascular occlusions caused by filler (medical emergency)
Fresh start: Desire for complete removal for a natural look

Transparent Information, Individual Consultation

The outpatient treatment takes approximately 30 minutes. A 3D-assisted analysis prior to treatment as well as a detailed consultation are standard practice. We take the time to discuss your expectations and create an individual treatment plan.

"The combination of ultrasound and Hylase gives us a level of precision that was unthinkable just a few years ago. We can now help patients safely and effectively, even with complex corrections."

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Hylase and when is it used?

Hylase is an enzyme (hyaluronidase) that selectively dissolves hyaluronic acid fillers. It is used when filler results are undesirable, too much material has been injected, fillers are misplaced, or complications such as swelling, nodules, or vascular problems occur.

What is the advantage of ultrasound-guided Hylase treatment?

Ultrasound enables precise visualisation of filler distribution within the tissue. We can see exactly where the filler is located, including in deeper tissue layers. This makes the treatment significantly more precise, safer, and gentler on the surrounding tissue than the conventional method.

How does the treatment procedure work?

First, a 3D analysis and an ultrasound examination are performed to precisely localise the filler. The Hylase is then injected under ultrasound guidance into the affected areas with pinpoint accuracy. The outpatient treatment takes approximately 30 minutes. The enzyme begins breaking down the hyaluronic acid immediately.

Is the treatment painful?

The treatment is minimally invasive and generally well tolerated. Local anaesthesia can be applied upon request. Mild swelling or redness may occur for 1–2 days but resolves quickly.

When will results be visible?

Breakdown of the filler begins immediately after injection. Initial results are often visible within a few hours. Complete dissolution may take 24–48 hours depending on the amount and type of filler. In some cases, a second session after a few days may be beneficial.

Which facial areas can be treated?

In principle, all areas where hyaluronic acid fillers have been used can be treated: lips, cheeks, nasolabial folds, tear troughs, chin, jawline, and forehead. Thanks to ultrasound technology, we are particularly precise even in sensitive areas such as around the eyes.
