TOP Magazin Düsseldorf portrayed Dr. Karl Schuhmann as the person behind the white coat. The result is a glimpse into the life of a specialist who moves between private practice, clinic and humanitarian work – yet consciously sets aside time for family, sport and culture.
Between the Operating Theatre and Königsallee
After many years of commuting, Dr. Schuhmann moved to Düsseldorf permanently in 2019. The private practice on Königsallee complements his role as Head of Department at Augusta Kliniken in Bochum/Hattingen. Structure, reliable teams and a high standard of quality define his daily work – whether it involves facelifts, hand surgery or reconstructive procedures.
Engaged in the Local Community
Düsseldorfer Jonges, local charity events, arts and sports initiatives: Dr. Schuhmann values the Rhenish way of life and participates actively. The network helps him exchange experiences and advance projects – from new treatment technologies to fundraising campaigns for his overseas missions.
Personal Balance
Sport has been part of his life since childhood – particularly judo and running. Together with family and friends, he uses free time for travel, photography or simply a cycling trip along the Rhine. This balance is important in order to approach his patients' concerns with calm and empathy.
A Humanitarian Heart
Several weeks each year, Dr. Schuhmann operates voluntarily on burns victims, children with congenital deformities and war casualties. The portrait reveals how profoundly the work in India and Armenia shapes him – and how these experiences feed back into his everyday practice in Düsseldorf.
